Pre & Post Care Instructions

This is a generalized pre and post care instruction sheet. During your consultation the Medical Aesthetician will thoroughly review the pre & post care instructions in detail to address all questions and concerns prior to your procedure. 

Pre-Care Instructions:

  • Topical retinoid therapy and glycolic acid should be discontinued 2-4 days prior to the treatment.
  • Avoid the use of topical antibiotics and exfoliants 2 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun, if you must be in the sun use a zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30.
  • Hair should not be chemically removed or shaved 2 weeks prior to the treatment.
  • Avoid taking any anticoagulants 1 week prior to any microneedling treatment if medical conditions allows. *Consult your physician first
  • Arrive to your appointment with clean skin, there should be no lotion, makeup, perfume, powder, bath or shower oil present on the skin being treated.

Post-Care Instructions:

  • Treat the skin gently while bathing, avoiding scrubbing or trauma to the treated area.
  • Do not use hot water and avoid thermal contact for 24 hours.
  • You may use cool compresses or ice packs for 15 minutes per hour to minimize redness/swelling.
  • Avoid the use of retinol or glycolic acid for 5 days post treatment.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation. Use zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30+.
  • Refrain from touching, pressing, or rubbing the treated region for the first 8 hours. Ensure your hands are completely clean if you do touch the area.
  • Avoid facials, facial massages, or laser treatments for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that may cause excessive sweating for 24 hours.
  • Refrain from shaving the treated area or using exfoliants for up to 5 days after your treatment.
